About FELIP
Felip Jhon Suson is a dynamic Filipino artist recognized both as FELIP in his solo endeavors and as Ken, a key member of the globally acclaimed P-pop group SB19. He holds the significant roles of main dancer, lead vocalist, and lead rapper within SB19, a group known for their powerful dance songs and heartfelt ballads.
Felip’s musical journey began early, deeply rooted in his family’s involvement in church in his home province of Zamboanga del Sur. As the son and grandson of pastors, he was exposed to gospel music from a young age. His uncle, a church performer, served as his initial musical influence.
Despite this early connection to music, Felip initially pursued studies in Architecture. He attended Cagayan de Oro College, and later the Technological Institute of the Philippines. However, his passion for performance soon took precedence, leading him to become actively involved in various dance cover groups, notably Xcite in Cagayan de Oro and Amigo7 in Metro Manila.
In 2018, driven by his deep-seated love for performing, Felip made a life-changing decision to audition at ShowBT, a Korean entertainment company. After six months of intensive training, he officially debuted as the fifth member of SB19, marking the beginning of his professional music career.
Felip eventually began carving out a distinct solo identity under the mononym FELIP. His solo works, released under Warner Music Philippines, showcase a more experimental and personal musical style tapping into a diverse range of genres including hip-hop, rap, pop, R&B, and rock. His solo debut came in September 2021 with the release of “Palayo”, a slow R&B track that paid homage to his Bisaya roots.
The year 2022 marked a significant milestone in his solo career when he became the first Philippine representative and Southeast Asian artist to perform for the Grammy Global Spin, featuring his Philippine mythology-themed single, “Bulan”. This track, blending hip-hop, rap, and rock with indigenous Filipino elements, showcased his artistic versatility.
Felip’s solo discography includes his debut EP, COM•PLEX, released in February 2023, which features a heavier hip-hop and rock-influenced sound. He further solidified his solo presence with his first full-length album, 7sins, released in July 2024, a nine-track album exploring human shortcomings. He has also released original singles “Kanako” and “Fake Faces”, and his official rendition of the classic “Moving Closer”.
For collaborative work, Felip has worked with PLAYERTWO on the tracks “FLYYY” and “Pagdali”, and Japanese producer SKY-HI for the multi-artist track “ID”.
Beyond music, Felip is a burgeoning entrepreneur, serving as CEO of his streetwear brand, SUPERIOR SON, which launched in November 2021 and has seen rapid success with sold-out releases. His distinctive fashion sense has also earned him recognition in publications like Vogue and Nylon, marking him as a rising fashion icon.
With his diverse talents and unwavering dedication, Felip continues to make a significant impact on the Philippine and international music and fashion scenes.
