Life hasn’t been easy for Katrina Velarde, but this petite vocal powerhouse is a survivor. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear her life story in every song she belts. Her strength, grit and determination shine through in each powerful note she lets loose. This is one lady you’ll never see bow down to adversity.
Nothing lasts forever of course, but there are some good things that, when they come to an end, sting more painfully than usual. The original Juans breaking up is one of those painfully sad ends. Although their music lives on, and their lineup has been reformatted, nothing is ever the same as the original.
The original members of the Juans, Carl Guevarra, Japs Mendoza, Jiad Arroyo, Daniel Gorospe and Jason de Mesa had the looks, talent and vibe, which is why it’s devastating that they eventually decided to part ways. Although they have since reformatted, fans who have been with the Juans from the start still grieve at the split.
Mark Bautista is truly one of those rare gems, a baritone carving a niche in a tenor infused pop scene. He is however, every bit worth paying attention to. When he sings in his true voice, his deep, solid tones feel like taking a deep dive into soothing, cool waters.
